WMA SCHOOL CAMP
Our NEW solution to remote learning during the first part of the school year!
What is WMA School Camp?
School Camp is our NEW solution to remote learning for the first part of the school year. We are open from 6 am to 6 pm to provide a focused learning environment for your children so that they can complete schoolwork to train their brains and receive Taekwondo lessons to strengthen their bodies and build character!
We are an UNLICENSED childcare facility, which means students may come and go at any time. We are also not a tutoring facility. However, we can help students remember their schedules, deal with technical difficulties with technology and the internet, and keep them on task so they can succeed in this new learning situation.
Is the program safe?
We continue to stay updated and follow both CDC and Department of Social Services guidelines. We check temperatures of all entrants to the building and have plenty of disinfectant and hand sanitizer around to clean inorganic and organic surfaces! All students and staff are required to wear masks indoors and maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more.
Will my child under 10 need to wear a mask?
Yes, all students and staff will wear masks indoors, in addition to social distancing of at least 6 feet. When the weather is nice, we will train outside without masks and with 10 feet of social distancing.
Who can enroll in WMA School Camp?
Normally, our Before & After School Program is limited to only a certain number of schools due to pick up logistics. However, since we do not need to do this during camp, we can take students from any school, ages 5-12.
Do I need to sign up for School Camp in order to save a spot for the Before & After School Program?
No, the programs are separate and we will have sign up for Before & After School once it is clear students will return to school and require pick up.
How long will the School Camp program last?
The main school district we serve, York County School Division, has planned for remote learning to go for nine weeks, from September 8th to November 6th. We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will offer camp past that date if remote learning continues. However, if children return to school, we need to see what the schedule is like before determining sign up for our Before & After School Program or just continuing School Camp for families who choose not to return to school when it re-opens.
Will school supplies be provided?
Students will need to bring their own laptops and tablets with chargers. They will also need headphones with microphones to avoid distracting other students.
In order to avoid contact risk, we ask that students bring their own pencils, paper, and other school supplies. We will have a few on hand in case someone forgets, but parents should not depend on this. We also ask that families provide most of these supplies so that we can keep camp affordable.
